Riverside Veterans Memorial Project

Honoring Those Who Served

In October 2017, a group of Riverside alumni who were also veterans came together with a shared vision: to create a lasting tribute honoring the veterans of the Riverside Local School District. The memorial recognizes former students, as well as current and former employees, who have proudly served our country.

The committee developed a two-part Veterans Memorial Project:

  • Wall of Honor — Located in the Riverside Stadium area

  • Interactive Veterans Display — Located in the main lobby of Riverside High School

Together, these memorials honor the service and sacrifice of Riverside veterans while preserving their stories for current and future generations.

The Wall of Honor

The Wall of Honor serves as a lasting tribute to the men and women who have served our nation. The memorial features:

  • Engraved bricks recognizing veterans and project sponsors

  • The American flag and flags representing the historical branches of the U.S. military

  • Four granite-etched panels depicting major U.S. conflicts and wars

  • A centerpiece honoring Riverside students who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country

  • A display recognizing the sponsors who made the project possible

The memorial continues to grow. The concrete pad has been expanded to accommodate additional engraved bricks along the sides and the non-flag side of the Wall. Thanks to the generosity of Shannon Fence, the fenced memorial area is larger than originally envisioned, providing space for future additions and landscaping enhancements.

Purchase an Engraved Brick

Additional engraved bricks are available for $100 each and may be purchased to honor:

  • A Riverside veteran

  • A family member or loved one who served

  • A business or organization sponsor

To purchase a brick or learn more about the Wall of Honor, please contact a member of the Veterans Memorial Committee.

Interactive Veterans Display

Located in the main lobby of Riverside High School, the Interactive Veterans Display features a 55-inch touchscreen that honors veterans who attended or worked for Riverside Local Schools.

The display showcases each veteran's name, photograph, and biographical information. Visitors can easily search for veterans by:

  • Name

  • Graduation year

  • Branch of military service

The interactive software was designed and developed by students at the Auburn Career Center, making the display a meaningful collaboration that honors Riverside's veterans while highlighting the talents of local students.
